Kripalu Polarity Therapy

"I've had Sciatica for the last 8 months which persistently resisted many other types of treatment. After 3 treat-ments with Nancy, my pain level has been significantly reduced and my Chiropractor was amazed that my spinal alignment changed so much more quickly than expected. It's given me hope of a full recovery. I will continue to get treatments from Nancy and highly recommend her work. Nancy's sessions are intuitive, effective and come from the heart."

~Judy S., MassageTherapist/Doylestown PA (Polarity client)

Polarity Therapy is a cohesive, comprehensive health system involving energy-based bodywork, that includes self-awareness, lifestyle counseling, exercise (Polarity Yoga) and its Chakras and can include dietary considerations of Pitta, Vata & Kapha body types if needed.

The Founder of Polarity Therapy, Dr. Stone, DO, DC, ND, through his training, led him to a deep appreciation of Craniosacral Therapy. He had pioneered the techniques of craniosacral therapy 30 years before John Upledger's textbook on the subject.

There is a Life Force that flows through every living thing, like a current running through the electrical wires of a house. It charges every cell unless stress of some kind blocks or weakens that flow. Polarity Therapy helps reduce and dissolve these blocks to balance your energy to renew and revive the connection of the circuitry to the body. Your body has an innate intelligence and self-regulating capacity. This emerges with awareness and applying this movement of energy. Dialogue is encouraged by the Practitioner to support this increasing self-awareness and energetic movement.

In Polarity Therapy, taking time to check in with ourselves allows awareness so we may get in touch with what we are feeling and experiencing rather than stay in our heads and mind with our thoughts and distractions of outer activities. Focusing helps us notice our body's feelings and sensations. What are these sensations about? Whenever we have had some painful or traumatic experience, we carry not only the memory and feelings connected with that experience, but we "remember" it physically

Focusing on the body gently coaxes life challenges, issues that need to be attended to, to come to the surface that arise out of your own deep inner knowing of your personal truth and personal path. We as human beings sometimes retreat to our minds to manage feelings, avoiding deeper intimacy with ourselves, and the emotions are left unresolved and tend to lodge deep within the body. Polarity focuses on the body to help reveal the underlaying thoughts, patterns & emotions.

A Polarity Therapist is trained in recognizing the subtleties and uses conscious touch to facilitate the energy to move and as a result moves through the channels. They are extensively trained in the energetic system, and in active listening which helps facilitate healing.

It is widely recognized that the hands are conductors of energy. By using both hands the practitioner will make contact with the client, focusing on connecting with a specific energetic pathways, so that a current will flow.Using a light touch, a Polarity Therapist places his or her hands on your body, one hand on a positive and the other on a negative circuit located on your body. The are any number of combinations and connections that can be made in a session. Changes may occur in your body as a result of Polarity Therapy, which relaxes the nerves that control muscles, and muscles hold the bones.

Our body is our compass, our guide to awareness, and breathing can help us to focus on what we are experiencing in the moment. With Polarity Therapy, this process help us to become aware of our bodies and the sensations we experience through them. When we take the time to focus, we can become aware of those places where we are 'holding.' Somatic therapy integrates the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of ourselves.

By creating an environment of safety & trust, the practitioner also supports the client's self-healing process. The client then can respond & relax not only to the touch of the practitioner, but also to the practitioner him/herself. By supporting the full cycle of energy out from the core to the periphery, the practitioner can redirect & return the current back to the source.

Polarity counseling* techniques are relaxed and open exploration that involves your own discovery with gentle unfolding. I hold a sacred space that allows your own inner awareness to blossom, while developing your own self-awareness, and assist you in self-observation.

I will help you discover your ability to be present with yourself & witness your own body's emotions & thoughts, sensations - skills that can be cultivated.

As you strengthen & deepen your ability to be present and intimate within yourself, you will be building the foundation for creating & experiencing intimacy with others.

Clients usually transitions to the table after Polarity counseling, where the therapist brings balance to the client’s energy field and structural body by using hands on techniques. The client responds not only to touch, but also the practitioner by creating an environment of safety and recognition; the practitioner supports the client's self-healing process. The client remains fully clothed while the Polarity Therapist uses his or her hands to make point-to-point contact, focusing on connecting with specific energetic pathways so that the currents will flow using conscious touch to facilitate movement involving gentle rocking using both light and deep accupoint contact.

The 'Holding Space Method' (Gary B. Strauss, RPP) in Polarity Therapy is a kinesthetic approach that brings awareness to the surrounding space of energy that exists between you and the client, which in turn, creates an environment which allows & facilitates energetic movement in a yielding, receptive capacity of the Feminine principle, balancing & harmonizing with the Masculine of the Yin~Yang Oriental approach, which can facilitate movement at a deep level and reach emotional pockets of long held tension & loosen blockages of energy to free up your life force.

The results vary from person to person, however there is usually a sense of relaxation, relief, and sometimes requires a series of sessions to resolve symptoms. It should be noted, however, that Polarity Therapy is used to treat the whole person. Proponents of Polarity Therapy do not claim to cure any medical condition..

All life is an expression of energy in motion, (EIM) and that energy emerges from and returns to a source of life energy.

Somewhere in your body you have hidden pockets of tension or pain. Perhaps you have trouble with your back, get frequent headaches or indigestion. Perhaps your joints ache or you sometimes feel stiff and sore. Or, the pain may be very specific and chronic, like arthritis or sciatica. Wherever the pain or whatever the cause, whether from injury or illness, it is a signal that is telling you that your energy is blocked. One very simple techique for releasing those blocks and restoring the energy is called Polarity Therapy.

My goal is to support you in personal transformation as quickly as you are able to integrate the changes you choose to make. So we will follow the cues of your body into the heart of the issues you want to address. This focused, intentional communication is so gentle and profound that you may very quickly find your way to making major shifts in how you see yourself, how you relate to others, and your underlying belief systems about your self, your Self, your relationships, and the universe at large. These new insights and awareness can result in physical transformation, as patterns held in the physical body soften and release upon the transformation of the belief systems that held them in place".

Craniosacral - The therapist lightly palpates the patient's body, and focuses intently on the communicated movements. A practitioner's feeling of being in tune with a patient is described as entrainment. Patients.Patients often report feelings of deep relaxation during and after the treatment session, and may feel light-headed. This is popularly associated[by whom?] with increases in endorphin's. Practitioners of craniosacral therapy assert that there are small, rhythmic motions of the cranial bones attributed to cerebrospinal fluid pressure or arterial pressure. The premise of CST is that palpation of the cranium can be used to detect this rhythmic movement of the cranial bones and selective pressures may be used to manipulate the cranial bones to achieve a therapeutic result. However, the degree of mobility and compliance of the cranial bones is considered controversial and is a critically important concept in craniosacral therapy.
